A good week
A mini trip to B-town was much in order. Laughs with the girls, a shopping trip & my sisters yummy home-made rocky road plus coffee(him)/hot chocolate(me) with Dickie = a very lovely weekend.
i have had a productive week at work & was called up to Winchester for a day which i wasn't particularly looking forward to, but was actually quite fun. It's nice to have a change for a day, to ride the train to work instead of driving. Somehow it makes me feel more professional. There's a new Cath Kidston shop which is gorgeous & i had time to visit in my lunch, but refrained from making a purchase (i think that deserves a round of applause, please!). Then after work it was to the American Diner for Root Beer Floats with Gareth. We were discussing his wedding plans, i am SO excited for him! i still find it hard getting my head around the idea that friends of mine are/are going to be married.
It's taking time to get used to the changes with my body & i'm being careful not to overdo things but i am starting to feel more like myself this week. i occasionally get a rebellious, reckless streak in me which mostly inspires me to go on adventures and make lots of pretty stuff, come up with grand plans and/or journal a lot. This streak has surfaced over the last few days. And on that note i will leave you with this:

Well it's been a looong week getting back into he routine of regular life. i am really tired ALL the time. However, i still managed to squeeze in one crafty evening with the girls. Miss Caketin has been teaching me how to crochet for a little while now. i've just been practicing making squares. But this week i am finally making something. Here's how it's going so far.

i know there's a few holes, but it's a good effort for a first attempt i think. And i am finally sarting to enjoy it (i was getting incredibly frustrated with it at first).

Also went to see Fantastic Mr Fox last night. It is delightful. i love stop motion, i love Roald Dahl (one day i'd love to visit the museum), it has an awesome soundtrack & is full of Wes Anderson's usual quirks.
My favourite character:

i'm off to Bournemouth later, it will be nice to have a change of scenery after being cooped up for so long.

Fancy dress shares
It is no secret that i am a huge lover of fancy dress. That's why halloween in one of my favourite holidays of the year. In a break from tradition i am not making my own costume this year, but i already ordered it! i am really excited to actually be something this year rather then go in a generic halloween costume ( in previous years i've gone as a dark fairy & as Ghoul-dilocks). Anyway with halloween around the corner i thought i'd share some layouts about my love for fancy dress.

i love the moustaches from Hambly.

For this one i used Mandi's Half Caf Kit (plus a few extras). i believe she still has some available!

Hey y'all & thankies
So you may have noticed i've been absent from the blog world for the last 3 or 4 weeks. Well i've actually just been absent from the real world in general. i was admitted to hospital for 8 days & nights. i was a very ill girly with jaundice (i was a scary colour yellow) due to a gallstone being stuck in my bile duct. i had to have an ERCP to remove it & then a Lapcole to remove my gallbladder. So i've been at home for the last 12 days recovering from my op. Everything is healing well. i'm planning on returning to work tomorrow, doing a couple of half days to begin with to ease myself back in.
i just wanted to share with you what our mantel piece looks like at the moment, apologies for the blurry photo.

Thanks so much to everyone who sent a get well soon card, bought me a gift/flowers, visited me in hospital and sent well wishes. It has been overwhelming. i have really appreciated your support through this time, especially from my family (particularly mumsie) who have taken such good care of me.
Crafting has taken a bit of a sideline, but i have had the chance to sort some of my layouts into albums. i've discovered a few that i haven't shared with the online world as of yet, so i'll be back this week with a scrappy post or two. :)
